This is some of the information I have gathered while searching for the EDWARDS family.

It has been passed through our family that we are related to the Edwards family that Edwardsville is named after.

1.  Mary Jane "Mollie" Edwards, was the daughter of William Henry Edwards and Sarah Jane Mayfield. They were lovingly known as Billy and Sally. I have photographs of both.

2. Carl Harmon met a David Edwards at the Scott family reunion circa 1980's. They both spoke of their connection to the town of Edwardsville although had no proof of a connection to the town or each other. After I researched it further,  it seems that David is also a descendant of Billy and Sally, through their son Franklin Lafayette "Frank".

3. Billy Edwards was born in 1841. He is first seen in the 1850 Floyd Co., IN census, age 8, living with Harvey Edwards and Lucinda (nee Duggins).

4. Harvey Edwards named his son, William Henry, and Henry Edwards named his son Harvey. They are neighbors living on the land that Henry purchased in 1846.  This MUST mean something!!!

5. In the 1840 census, Henry is living in Floyd County(Georgetown twp) and Harvey is living in Harrison Co(Boone twp).
Need to find Edwards families near this area in KY for 1830? Check for male child age 8 or 9.
 

6. Who is Mary E. Jones, age 8, as living with Henry and Susannah in 1850?  Didn't David Edwards marry Drucilla Tomlin Jones?

7. According to Abstract of Title Henry purchased land in 1848 from Mr. Henry Trensetter. According to the BLM a Henry Edwards purchased land in Aug 1837, and twice in August of 1838. Same Henry or his father, Henry?? Henry Edwards sold some land to William Henry (Billy) from his plot of Edwardsville in 1865 (taken from Abstract of Title).

8. Billy, Sally and the children moved to Crawford Co., IN sometime after 1880.

9. According to the write up on Edwardsville it says that Henry's home( The Kroskill House) was often used by his uncle William, a Christian minister, to perform marriages. Harvey Edwards (Henry's son) was married by a Wm. Edwards, Minister.(1.) Is this uncle William??

   Edwardsville: (land was sold to) "Henry Edwards for $1,700" (and he
laid      out the village of Edwardsville in 1853).  "Henry Edwards was
a Hoosier.      His father, also named Henry, came from Kentucky to this
township among       the pioneers, with a large family of children, not
many of whom are now       living, and only one, William, is now living
in this                          vicinity.".........."Henry Edwards
lived at the forks of the road, in a       cabin built there long years
before Edwardsville came into existence...."
